Yep. This is why people get defensive and triggere

Yep. This is why people get defensive and triggered when people speak about racism. It’s a form of narcissism. And if that makes you feel defensive while reading- know this: we all have narcissistic tendencies. It part of being human. Part of healing your trauma is learning how to heal the parts of you that are narcissistic and get defensive when you see truth in someone’s statement - a truth you might be avoiding. And you get defensive because it feels hard to face that truth you don’t wanna look at. We are taught to be ashamed of our “ugly parts” so we get angry at others for speaking truths that mirror back the “ugly parts” we’re ashamed to look at. Take a breath. The lie that toxic patriarchy taught you is that you were supposed to be perfect always. That’s what creates this defensiveness in you that makes you unable to listen. That’s what makes you unable to process and handle your own trauma which then makes you unable to deal with the trauma of others.
Thats also what makes “influencers” make the situation worse because they are so entrenched in needing to appear perfect because of the shame of not being perfect, that they do everything they can to maintain the perfect image and scramble to do so. In the process they deny and gaslight what they’ve done and hide and cover up instead of just being ok with being human and saying “shit, I effed up, I’m wrong.” It’s a capacity issue. So yes, if you’ve gotten defensive or triggered this week over people talking about racism strongly and with conviction- it’s a lens to look at your own trauma which leads to narcissism (because narcissism is created from trauma). It’s an invitation to expand your capacity, because a leader without capacity can’t rightfully call themselves a leader. A truth in giving you right now with a lot of love. But fierce love that won’t stand for any BS.
