First, I want to give a big WELCOME and virtual hug to all of our new subscribers! We had quite a lot of people join our community here this past week. Get ready to experience the way you do life and business in a whole new way!

Now, back to this email. Y’all hear me talk a lot about how Capacity Work is a never-ending process. At every next level of your growth, you will be working on expanding your capacity. Always. So, even eleven years into my capacity expansion, I’m still having it tested and expanded.

Last week I had to put my own Capacity to the test and here’s what happened:

In the span of just one week, not only did I lead two back to back virtual retreats for the 2020 Capacity Circle Mastermind and the Capacity Shift program…

…but in the middle of one of those retreats’ lunch breaks, I left my own event to go speak at my friend’s 500+ participant event and delivered a keynote speech about how to use Capacity to supercharge your strategies.

This among full days of coaching calls and another speaking engagement at a friend’s mastermind. I didn’t get a day off.

TO BE CLEAR: this is not my pace every weekend. But sometimes, the opportunities that come our way all happen at once. Do you have the capacity to handle that when they do, instead of turning things down because you’re “just too overwhelmed or busy?”

In the past, I would’ve never been able to handle all of that in just four days. I would’ve been exhausted, showing up to all four events with 50% of my power and energy. Then, I would’ve needed a week to recover. I’ve had many clients come to work with me because they feel the same after their events.

But I don’t feel that way anymore, BECAUSE of Capacity Work. In fact, I felt energized.

I noticed I was able to show up to my retreats AND my 500+ person keynote speech FULLY and at my best. My clients all had massive breakthroughs in their virtual retreats AND I hopped on a full day of client calls on Monday feeling rested and refreshed.

Here’s just some of the feedback I got from people who came to the keynote I delivered on Capacity:

I’ll be taking some days off this weekend (I’m calling my godchildren on Saturday to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender with them over Zoom). But I was glad to see my own capacity be tested and see myself pass with flying colors. Phew!

One of the biggest fears I hear from so many of you is “can I HANDLE that big goal I want to reach? What if I get there and it’s too overwhelming and I can’t handle it?”

That’s not an irrational fear. That’s a WISE fear to have. It’s your own inner wisdom telling you, hey, you need to work on your capacity to hold, handle and receive that which you say you want!.

I worked with a woman once who would get wiped out for a week after leading a 2 day retreat with 80 people. A year into working on her capacity, she led a 280 person event and only took one day off after. She was back in action a day later. She also happened to take her revenue from $500,000 to over $1 million that year. And she had excellent profit margins, because with Structural Capacity she was able to manage a lean, streamlined team.

Sometimes all your blessings hit at once. Capacity ensures you can catch them all, without missing a beat.

I’ve been getting many messages from you on how you can get to work on your capacity. I’ve been sold out of 1:1 spots all year (as I am most years) but I actually just had one spot for long-term private coaching open up.

I’ve also opened up two spots for VIP days with me (these also have been unavailable all year due to demand.)

And if private coaching isn’t your thing, we’ve got programs that start at only $375 a month to get you expanding your capacity.

Just fill out the form right here and I’ll personally review it and be in touch to schedule a call to see if I can help you.

I know that I still owe you a “Part Three” of the series of blog posts I began two weeks ago called “Why You’re Stuck”. A lot of you have been loving those and I didn’t forget about the third installment!

That’s coming next week, so stay tuned. If you didn’t get a chance to read Part One and Part Two, make sure you do before I release the third and final installment. See you next week!

Last week I introduced you to Part 1 of the “Why You’re Stuck” series. We talked about how being stuck is a capacity issue and I laid out my case for the first reason why you’re stuck. If you haven’t read it yet, make sure you catch it here.

We’re exploring this from an angle I haven’t really seen a lot of people talk about. Today, we’re covering Reason #2 you’re stuck. This one’s verrrryyy sneaky, tricky, and often lays dormant in your subconscious.

2) You’re unconsciously hoping someone’s going to do the work for you.

Many years ago, a woman signed up for one of our group masterminds. She paid every month, yet barely showed up for any of the group calls and never posted or interacted in our Facebook group.

One of the things I’ve always told my clients when they sign up to work with me is this: “I see you as a sovereign being. I will not chase you. If I were to see or treat you as anything else, I’d have no business being your coach.”

I assumed she wasn’t showing up for a good reason and was adult enough to do her work at her own pace. But a few months into the program, I got a long, angry email from her complaining she hadn’t seen any changes and wasn’t receiving enough support.

A very odd complaint. First, because the program had no less than four layers of support, so there was no way you’d ever “not get enough support”. And secondly, how could she see changes if she wasn’t participating?

We got on the phone and I dug beyond the complaint. Something deeper was going on. My hunch: this was a capacity issue she’d been struggling with for a looong time.

She’d tried a gazillion programs and nothing worked. She blamed and badmouthed all the previous coaches and programs. After a tough but powerful conversation, she came to a realization: she’d been throwing money at a coach/program subconsciously hoping it was going to do the heavy lifting for her.

That wasn’t the coach/program’s fault. She brought unspoken and impossible expectations into every new program she joined, which blocked her results.

Unconsciously, she assumed just paying to be in the program would mean all her self-sabotaging behaviors would magically stop on their own. As if I or any other coach/support system had the ability to control her every self-sabotaging thought and behavior.

Most online programs are built in this very “we will tell you every single little thing to do” mode. For how-to type of skills this is a good way to teach. But using these types of teaching methods for capacity issues which require much more depth, nuance and attention is like putting a flimsy bandaid on a wound which needs nuanced care from an expert plastic surgeon.

You get so used to being TOLD what to do in DIY programs of this nature, you don’t build your capacity to tap into your own inner wisdom and tell yourself what to do. Take enough of these types of programs and you won’t be able to make a move until an “expert” tells you. But YOU’RE the best expert on you. In the end, you have to do the work.

A coach can walk beside you in your transformation, help you make HUGE shifts in your life and create your dreams. They can provide the accountability you need and call you out. But they don’t have a “chip” they can install in your brain to tell you to stop thinking a negative thought. They aren’t at your house slapping your hand away from a “bad” behavior.

You’re giving your power away when you make change fully dependent on something/someone outside of you.

Coaches/supporters can teach you techniques which give you more capacity to handle self sabotage so it doesn’t sidetrack you. But it’s you and only you who decides to stop it when the opportunity for sabotage comes up.

They can help you see how to make better, more aligned decisions, but a good coach doesn’t make the decisions for you. They can, in conjunction with your inner wisdom, show you how to make more money and get the results you want. But it’s YOU who has to employ the techniques, has to make the sales and show up to deliver what you sold.

Your coach can create a container where it’s easier for you to trust, but it’s YOU who chooses to trust in the end. Your coach can’t get into your mind and heart to choose this for you.

You can’t empower anyone or anything with something you haven’t already empowered yourself with. No program, no matter how good, will make you magically decide to actually do something about your situation. The decision starts with and comes from within you.

There’s an exercise I teach my clients in Capacity Work. I call it “getting fed up”. While I can’t go into the nuances of it here, I can tell you the powerful effect this exercise has. When my clients do it, they get truly fed up with the way they keep abdicating responsibility for their lives.

THAT’S when you know you’re ready to hire someone and do the work of expanding your capacity. Because now you’re truly sick of the excuses you keep making. Now YOU are taking responsibility for what’s yours. And this means you’re going to co-create with your coach. Not abdicate all choices for your life to them.

Transformation doesn’t happen through inbox-osmosis.

You have to actually decide to DO it yourself.

In our next and final post, i”m going to give you the third reason why you’re stuck. I know this one is totally going to catch you off guard. I also happen to know no one is giving you this particular type of advice for getting unstuck. It kind of flies in the face of all convention.

See you in the next post for Part 3 in our “Why You’re Stuck” series.

If you’re starting to have your eyes opened to the capacity issues keeping you stuck and you want to talk about what working together would look like to get you unstuck… fill out the Capacity Discovery form here.

We have programs which start at only $375 a month and I have ONE spot open right now for 1:1 work with me (almost never available). There’s something for everyone!

As I write this to you it’s a few weeks after leading the “Capacity in Crisis” workshop. It’s been kind of a whirlwind lately (with some really awesome news on the professional front I can’t QUITE share with you yet, but soon I will!). So I’m a little late in getting this note of gratitude out to you.

I’m laying here on my couch reflecting on the workshop after a workout (see the kettlebells and mat in the background of the photo?). I don’t really need a weighted blanket, as you can see, because my dogs like to lie their combined 20 pounds directly on top of me! Apparently they can never get close enough! (and the rescue said they might never be affectionate dogs! Ha!)

It was such a powerful experience to be with so many of you! Attendance was great, everyone was engaged and having “holy sh$t” moments left and right and we got so many beautiful messages of gratitude afterwards from participants.

That’s what really blew me away. All the sweet, kind and grateful messages from so many of you who came! My phone was full of them!

Here’s one of my favorite ones that came in as soon as the workshop ended:

What I’m hearing most is what an eye opener this call was to all the reasons why you aren’t feeling good about how you’re showing up in crisis. Reasons and blind spots you couldn’t even see before.

And that’s important- because that’s the beginning of this work- SEEING where our blocks and blind spots even are, because when we can fully see our blind spots, that’s when the most powerful work to increase your capacity for more growth, wealth and impact can REALLY begin. You can’t skip past this part of the process.

And many of you who attended have booked calls with me to talk about going further with capacity work. I’ve spoken with so many of you who raved about the workshop on those calls and immediately signed up to continue the work in our Capacity Shift program! I can’t wait to speak with each and every one of you who has a call booked with me in the next few weeks to see how I can support you even further.

This is the work to be doing right now if you’re a leader and want to be showing up in a way that makes you feel good.

And I’m HERE for it.

Strategies alone won’t do this for you.

Capacity supporting your strategy will.

I’m honored to support you in that. So thank you for showing up for yourself and reading these emails every week. I know they can be confrontational because it’s hard to look at our blindspots! It’s hard to face the things parts of us want to avoid.

But the beauty of capacity work is that when you do it- not only will you be able to manage a pandemic year like a champ, but you’ll be able to manage all other crises in the future that arise seamlessly and with calm.

That’s not just possible- it’s inevitable when you do Capacity Work.

It’s no secret that our world changed irretrievably in March of this year. The new reality we’ve been ushered into requires WAY more capacity from us than ever before. Good leaders notice when this happens and then go get the capacity they need so they can keep growing, thriving and leading their communities in powerful ways.

Now I’m off to plan the amazing virtual Capacity retreat weekend for all my clients in Capacity Shift (the group Capacity program that starts at only $375 a month), Capacity Circle (our mastermind) and my 1:1 clients! That’s coming up in a few weeks and just like spring’s retreat, it’s going to be fabulous!

The last few weeks have been hectic, but full of love from y’all and I’m grateful to share this space every week with you! Thanks for being part of my community!

Ps: if you want in on one of these Capacity Assessment calls and want to talk more about which Capacity program is a good fit for you, just head here and fill out this form. I’ll personally review your application and if I feel I can help, we’ll reach out to get you schedule for a call.

I was recently talking to a client who wanted to raise her prices. She knew the mechanics and strategy of doing so. She knew she wanted to raise her 1:1 coaching price to $24,000.

But she kept holding back. Why? Because she needed to expand her Money Capacity–her ability to hold, handle and receive that much money for her work.

The issue wasn’t that she wasn’t worth it. She’s amazing at what she does and deserves to be paid at LEAST that amount. Instead, she needed to a) EMBODY the version of her that charges $24,000. And b) she needed to believe deep in her bones that there are LOTS of people out there who want to pay her that much for her brilliance.

Until you fully address those two things, there’s no way you’re going to create the abundance you want. That’s why having the right strategy and “how to” to raise your prices is only 3% of the battle. Capacity is the other 97%.

One of my client’s big fears was “no one in my community will want to pay that amount of money to work with me”. This is by far one of the top fears I hear from y’all when you know you need to raise your prices/ask for that raise but aren’t doing it.

You’ll think “oh, my clients/the company I work for are used to paying x amount, so if I suddenly raise it, they’re going to be turned off and leave.” Or “I can’t even imagine who in my community has the money for that.” Or “Why would they pay me that much when they can hire someone else for less?”

You’re not asking the right questions. Here’s why:

I’m currently looking to fill a very important position on my team. And I’m not even CONSIDERING anyone who is charging less than $75-$100 an hour.

I know the value of this position and how important it is to the growth we want to achieve this and next year. I know the level of excellence and expertise that I am looking for in whoever fills this position. So, anyone who is charging less than $75 an hour either a) doesn’t have enough experience or b) isn’t valuing their work because they’re undercharging.

Why would I not hire someone who is undercharging? If part of their job is to add even more revenue to the business, yet they can’t even recognize the value of their own work and charge accordingly…how are they going to recognize the value of what we do and grow our revenue?

You can’t hire someone with compromised money capacity to grow your business’ money. See how that works? All of this goes through my mind as I look to fill this position.

You’re worried people will be turned off by the price you know your work is worth, but I’m telling you there are clients who see your prices and wouldn’t even CONSIDER you as their service provider because your prices are TOO LOW.

When you ask “who would pay that in my community?” Um, there are several people who would but who haven’t raised their hands because they don’t see you as “their person”. Why? Because they wouldn’t pay less than $25,000 for the kind of support they need. Same goes for you if you have a raise you want to negotiate, or you’re applying for a job.

People naturally tend to think someone who is charging more has more experience and is better at what they do. Now, that doesn’t mean just go put a high price tag on something when you can’t back it up. Lots of people do that. That’s a lack of integrity. So make sure you’re raising your prices with integrity.

But that can be problematic for you too! Because you might have money-dysmorphia and underestimate how valuable your work is. (This is why I work with people on their Money Capacity, cause a strategy cannot fix money-dysmorphia).

The kind of client who pays you $20,000-$100,000 for something is not the same kind of client as the one that pays you $97- $3,000 for something. They are two different target markets entirely.

I worked on EXACTLY what I just told you above with my client. She sent me this text last week.

That is her THIRD $24,000 client in a month. As of this email she’s in talks with a potential fourth $24,000. She’s also been invited to give a talk at an important event that will elevate her profile and put her on the map as one of the best of the best at what she does.

None of these people and opportunities are “new”. They were already there. But they didn’t step up to hire her UNTIL her prices went up and UNTIL she grew her Money Capacity to be able to receive, hold and HANDLE such opportunities and clients. NOW they see and feel her as qualified to take them to the next level.

So stop questioning yourself. Cause it’s not your strategy, it’s your capacity.

Ps: If you’re ready to build your Money Capacity, fill out the Capacity Discovery form right here. I’ve opened up five spots this month in the Capacity Shift group program where you can start to build your Money Capacity for less than $400 a month.

Two just got filled this week, so now we’re down to only three spots available.

Once I review your application, if I think I can help, we can hop on the phone and discuss the best fit for you.

I was at a gathering recently (outside, wearing masks, very physically distanced and just five people) and I mentioned I probably wasn’t going to fly on any planes until next year and even then it would have to be on a private plane, with everyone onboard tested for COVID.

One woman who I get along with really well and just love said “honestly, I only picture you flying private” and we laughed because I felt seen! And I said “yeah one of my goals is to only fly private at a certain point.”

Immediately, I noticed someone in the group bristled. No one noticed it. This person’s face was still and didn’t show it. But I feel energy. She did NOT like that I said that. One of my gifts is that I actually feel people’s thoughts. I heard her say in her head “who does she think she is, so arrogant.”

Recently I made a suggestion to a group I’m a part of that “serial entrepreneur” or “entrepreneur” be added as a career to a list of careers for kids to learn about at an event this group was putting on. Instantly, three men in the group made jokes about what I said about how “serial entrepreneur” actually means “serial failed businesses” and “that’s a nice way to say you keep failing at business.”

They said it because THEY had failed at their businesses. I haven’t. The businesses I’ve started have all been successful. Again, I could feel the thoughts of these men under their jokes. “Your success threatens us, so we will make fun of what you said.” Interestingly, I wasn’t invited to be a part of the event. Hm, wonder why…

You’re always going to feel and hear some version of “how dare you think too audaciously? Who do you think you are?” when you know what you want and go for it.

There’s always going to be that friend who every time you mention a fabulous experience you worked hard for, mentions her bad experiences or how “some people don’t get to have that experience” to make you feel guilty about what you’ve earned through hard work.

I have a relative who regularly scoffs at my big ideas and says “I’m a realist and realists are the people who actually make things happen in the world.” He says this with an air of “you’ll learn” and I wonder who said that to HIM as a child when his dreams were crushed. My big ideas have all come to pass, by the way.

Someone is always going to be triggered by your visibility, your way of doing things, the things that you want to create. If you don’t build the capacity to ignore and keep moving on, you’re going to get thrown by every single naysayer that shows up. And on the path to creating big things for yourself, LOTS of naysayers will show up.

Building your capacity allows you to accept it, notice it and keep note of who cheers you and who reacts to you. Then, keep doing your thing.

I’m always thankful when I notice someone reacts negatively to a goal I have. Those “reactors” don’t get to come near my sphere of influence. I’ll always be kind but I keep them at an arm’s length, always.

Part of having capacity is BOUNDARIES. I call it Boundary Capacity. And when you have boundary capacity, you’re extremely careful about curating your space because you’ve got big things to do in this world. And there’s zero time to get thrown off by people who are projecting their own fears and limitations onto you.

If you’re ready to build your capacity, fill out the Capacity Discovery form right here. I’ve opened up five spots this month in the Capacity Shift group program where you can start to build your capacity for less than $400 a month.

One of the most shocking things I discovered when I decided to live the life I wanted to live (this started in my 20’s) was HOW MUCH resistance you can face not just from family members and friends but society as a whole. I wasn’t prepared for just how lonely it could feel and how it would require for me to build IMMENSE emotional and mental capacity.

As you grow up in your family and get exposed to “generally accepted” beliefs and ideas about what can and can’t be done, a lot of these beliefs get ingrained into you. Before you know it, you’re accepting these ideas as true, just because “that’s the way it’s always been done”.

These “generally accepted so-called truths” come in all shapes and forms. Just a few of the ones I’ve experienced are: you can’t meet the love of your life or have children in your forties. You can’t learn a new skill and become a maestro at it after your twenties. You can’t make six figures in your first year of business. Or you’re a failure if you DON’T make six figures in your first year of business. Men don’t like curvy women. Strong women are unattractive.

Your exposure to these “generally accepted” ideas is CONSTANT. As you venture out on your own unique path, you’ll hear the judgments from people’s minds who don’t believe in you. The silent clucking and eye-rolling of people who think you’ve gotten “too big for your britches”.

Sometimes you’ll feel people’s personal worries projected onto you and accidentally take them on as your own. This will cause you to wrestle with such intense doubt. You’ll face WALLS of people’s personal limitations presented as THE ONLY truth.

And then you turn on the TV or read anything and all of these “generally accepted ideas about what is and isn’t possible” are woven into EVERYTHING you see and read. it’s woven into so many every day sayings, behaviors, religions and organizations in positions of authority.

So much so, you start to feel like what you desire might actually be impossible. You’ll feel like your pace is “wrong” and put pressure on yourself to “get there” within a time frame that doesn’t work for you. I can’t tell you how many clients I’ve had to calm down when they’re upset that they “aren’t making seven figures yet” as if there’s some sort of established timeline and if you meet that timeline you’re somehow finally worthy.

You cut off your ability to go to your next level because when you put that much pressure on yourself to meet some “external” timeline you feel badly about yourself and you don’t show up as your most powerful. So that artificial, external pressure about how it “should be” actually slows you down.

As I struggled with this daily fight while carving out my own path and honoring my pace, I started to discover that, in reality, there are many truths and many realities.

When I didn’t feel ready to have children in my thirties, I started looking into women in their forties having children. Halle Berry had her last child when she was starting menopause! Geena Davis just had twins at age 49. Everywhere I looked there were stories of women doing what I had been told “couldn’t be done.”

I’ve met so many men and women who met the love of their lives in their forties, fifties. And even eighties! I’ve read of a seventy year old man taking up piano and becoming one of the most celebrated pianists in the world at ninety. Back in 2010, when I started my business, I was told to prepare for “not making any money for the first two years”. I worked my booty off and my business made six figures in just the first year,

If you dare go beyond the naysayer voices who want to tell you “how it is” you’ll find that what is “mainstream” actually…isn’t. So many people are succeeding doing the things you don’t think you’re allowed to do. Look for them. Find proof of what YOU want.

This is why I ended up creating the Capacity Framework. What you need to live the life YOU want to live (not the one everyone has told you is for you) is Capacity. The greatest, hardest and most powerful work in your life is learning to turn your mind away from the beliefs that tell you what you want is “impossible”.

I seem to have chosen a life where everything I want to do has been deemed impossible. So far, it hasn’t been. The hardest part wasn’t doing the work to get there. The hardest part was battling my own mind repeating the voices of those who said it was impossible. And winning that battle by building the emotional capacity to withstand an army of generally accepted thought forms and beliefs that AREN’T the ONLY truth.

And believe me, you NEED that kind of capacity because it will often feel like it’s just you pushing back an army of 100 million. This is why I always emphasize it’s not your strategy alone that gets you there, it’s your capacity.

Strategies don’t help when you’re doubting that what you really desire is impossible. Often, strategies are created FROM those limiting mainstream beliefs, so generally accepted strategies can actually limit you. When you have CAPACITY, you can create a strategy that aligns with what YOU want, not what someone else told you you should want.

I felt called to share this with you today, because you get to create the life you want. And what you want ISN’T impossible. You just need to build the capacity to create that life. Because chances are, it WILL look different than what you see around you.

If you’re ready to build the capacity to create the life you want, fill out the Capacity Discovery form right here. I’ve opened up five spots this month in the Capacity Shift group program where you can start to build your capacity for less than $400 a month.

A few weeks ago I was on the group call for Capacity Shift (our signature group coaching program) and I noticed everyone’s question was boiling down to the SAME question.

“How do I…”

NOT feel afraid every time I post something on my social media account?

stop feeling the fear of being judged when I speak up more in my business?

stop worrying I can’t handle all the good stuff that comes my way once I take solid action?

have this difficult conversation with my friend, client or team member without feeling nervous and them freaking out on me?

protect everything in my business even if we do have a big stock market crash?

prevent my mind from psyching me out every time I go to share my new offering with my community?

Every person I spoke to was trying to prevent themselves from feeling “unpleasant” feelings when faced with tough situations. They thought if they could STOP feeling afraid, they’d stop self-sabotaging and take action towards their goals. Or if they could just find the right “plan” or “strategy” they’d be able to control the outcome 100%.

Problem is, you’re asking the wrong question. Don’t ask how you can stop feeling afraid. Ask how you can build your capacity to deal with the unknown.

Last year, NO ONE predicted we’d be housebound in a global pandemic in 2020. You can’t fully predict what the stock market will do, nor how some people will react to your message. You can’t control whether someone will quit, hate you or randomly decide to drop out of your program. That’s just life.

No one had a “strategy” for how to behave, run a business or market during a pandemic. We haven’t had a pandemic in a century. That’s what the “unknown” is all about– WE DON’T KNOW.

And we don’t always feel 100% confident in how we will react to or handle the unknown. THAT’S what you’re really afraid of. You don’t fully trust how you’d react or if you’d have the capacity to handle it in a solid way.

Let this sink in. What you’re really afraid of is the Unknown. And your capacity (or lack of) to handle it.

You’ll never FULLY stop the anxiety, fear or discomfort of facing unknown situations.

Instead of wasting time trying to make a survival emotion like fear “go away”, expand your CAPACITY to handle the anxiety, fear or nervousness. Grow your capacity to handle anything thrown your way. Even a global pandemic.

When you KNOW deep down in your bones:

you have the capacity to handle WHATEVER comes your way in life or business

and even if you DIDN’T have the capacity in the moment, you have the exact tools you need to QUICKLY gain the capacity to handle it…

…you won’t waste your time trying to “stop fear”. You’ll instead feel the fear and have the capacity to do it anyway. Knowing deep in your bones you can handle fear, makes the fear 80% less intense anyway.

A pandemic can hit and you’ll feel your feelings, pivot smoothly and STILL move forward like a MF BOSS. This is what capacity does for you in your life and work. Ask my clients. All are growing and thriving now, pandemic or not.

With Capacity, you KNOW you can handle anything thrown your way. If you’re ready to move through your life and business with that level of confidence and CAPACITY, then the Capacity In Crisis workshop is for you.

Ever had this experience? You create a new program, product, or service, open it up to the world and one of two things happens:

Hardly anyone buys it

Or lots of people buy it, but every other time you offer it, less and less people buy.

In the first example, your soul is so crushed, you feel like never offering anything again. It might demoralize you for a few months and make you lose your steam. In the second example you get bored and create something new. Then you’re on a constant hamster wheel of creating and seeing what “sticks”.

I used to have this experience in my business. I’d constantly offer new things because I thought people would get “bored”. Or I’d get bored and want to try something new, hoping it would “do better” and I’d finally hit the jackpot.

This created a feast or famine cycle. Until a respected mentor told me “your business is not here for your entertainment.”

When she first told me this, I had a mini-temper tantrum internally. If my business is not here for my entertainment, then what’s the point of having a business? I need to be creative in my business!! After my temper tantrum subsided, I realized she was right.

Constantly hustling, having to create new things as “one offs” and lacking stability in your business is a CAPACITY ISSUE.

Because of one or more of these things:

You have a worthiness issue and don’t believe your offering is solid enough to offer over and over again and still be of value.

Instead of getting new audience members you keep trying to placate the existing audience members who need new things constantly. Doesn’t that sound like a toxic relationship to you?

You think you can ONLY be creative by offering new things and don’t know how to channel your creativity into more powerful ways that will actually grow your business (like marketing, how you serve your clients or how you manage your team).

You’re looking at all the “trends” in your industry and think you have to follow them in order to remain relevant.

You keep offering things that fall flat and go back to reinventing the wheel to see if this next creation will be “what people want”.

I had a client with all of the above capacity issues once. She had 17 different offerings because she had tons of “one off” programs based on what she thought was trendy, hoping THAT would be the game changer. It never was. Because she had a capacity deficit.

When you have a capacity deficit, you can release the most “sure thing” in the world, but it doesn’t work. No matter what strategic “experts” you hire. No matter how “on trend” your offering is.

When you have capacity, what you offer is so aligned, the graphics, the copy and the marketing could be unsophisticated, but the ENERGY behind it is so powerful and aligned, it sells.

As my client worked on her capacity, we pared down 17 offerings to 3. Her revenue grew to seven figures that year. And she wasn’t selling ANY business coaching. She was offering “WOO” stuff she thought “no one would pay for.”

You might notice there are even more ‘trends” going on with how COVID-19 has impacted our lives. You might be tempted to start going on that same chase, creating new things just because someone else is doing it. I’m asking you to pause and ask yourself this:

Do you really want to go on another disappointment carousel ride? Or do you want to fix the ROOT of the problem, your capacity deficits, which keep creating this experience for you?

A strategy doesn’t fix the root of the problem. Strategies can only accelerate your results once you’ve brought your capacity deficit into equilibrium. In that way, capacity and strategy are powerful bedfellows.

If you’re showing up in the ways I’ve described above and you’re not happy about it. AND you’re ready to fix the real root of the problem, your capacity…

Then the Capacity in Crisis workshop is for you.

It’s only $99 so it won’t hurt your wallet to try something different.

It’s only 90 minutes so it won’t waste your time.

And in that workshop, I’m going to ask you four really powerful questions you really need to know the answers to during this crazy time. They’ll become the four pillars you lean on during any turbulent times in your leadership.

We’re closing enrollment in just three days now. It’s now or never.

Ps: we WILL be sending out a recording, so if you can’t make it live, enroll anyway. You have to be enrolled to receive the recording.

I was in my car a few days ago when I heard some pretty shocking news on the radio: Hearst Magazines is shutting down O Magazine. I’ve been a die-hard O Magazine reader since my 20’s so my first reaction to this was: whyyyyyy???

The report went on to say the pandemic hit magazine companies hard. Apparently the magazine industry was already struggling, relying too heavily on “circumstantial purchases” for its survival.

Sales at places where people usually pick up O Magazine, like a newsstand while grabbing coffee before work, or an airport before flight, were the only thing keeping it afloat. Obviously, we’re not doing much of those things right now due to COVID-19.

I couldn’t help but think how even Hearst Magazines, one of the largest, most successful media companies in the world, had a glaring CAPACITY DEFICIT exposed this year.

How could they have just been putting all their eggs in that one “basket” of “circumstantial purchases”? Seems like a short-sighted, “quick fix” strategy for such a hugely successful company, no? Goes to show, we’re all more likely to make bad decisions in times of stress because of our capacity deficits. Even stalwarts like Hearst.

The events that happened this year have shown each and every one of us where our capacity deficits are. All the weak spots in our capacity, whether within ourselves, the world or in our businesses, are right up in our faces and can no longer be avoided.

This year has forced so many companies and leaders to innovate, think outside the box and ditch old tactics that expired long ago they were “getting away with”. Those already innovating didn’t have to do much when this pandemic hit.

I don’t know about you, but I never want to lean too heavily on an outdated strategy I’m “miraculously getting away with” or avoiding changes long overdue. Yet SO many business owners do just that. That’s EXACTLY how you end up getting the rug pulled out from under you when crisis hits. Right now it’s the pandemic, in another year it’ll be something else.

This is why working on your capacity is SO important. Because if Hearst Magazines had been prioritizing their capacity, they would’ve already innovated to where airport sales of magazines plummeting would’ve barely caused a dent. (Yeah, I’m cranky my beloved “O Mag” is getting shut down!)

If you had to scramble, pivot fast or lost a significant amount of your revenue when the pandemic began or it felt like a smack to the side of your face– that’s a sign you’ve been relying on a capacity deficit that needed to be shifted into equilibrium a long time ago.

Leaders with capacity don’t need to scramble to get ready. They STAY ready. So when years like this happen, they barely get a hair out of place and smoothly transition into the next level like bosses.

If you’re ready to be the kind of leader that stays ready, the Capacity In Crisis workshop is for you. We’re closing enrollment in just a few days now.

It’s only $99 and 90 minutes. And it’s work unlike anything you’ve ever done before. We’re going to talk about the four pillars you MUST master to navigate crises like a boss.

All leaders need this. Without it, you’re just another Hearst Magazines waiting to happen.

By the time she got on the phone with me she was spiraling. My client, let’s call her Alice, in the course of one week, had:

one person try to stop payments for her coaching program

another client had managed to start a “mini-mutiny” in her group coaching program and turned two other clients against her.

another client try to postpone her sessions indefinitely because of her stress

had to cancel a ton of live events she made 50% of her income from.

To say she was going through a stressful time would be #accurateAF.

On top of all that happening in her business, she had the stresses of being in her sixth month of self-isolation at home, feeling lonely and being separated from family and friends.

These times are demanding greater capacity from us than ever before. These times are also showing us our capacity deficits.

There’s a lot to manage, a lot to handle and a LOT to hold. And during a time like this, which we have never seen in our lifetimes, the people we support look to us to lead the way.

But how can you lead the way if you’re spiraling, you’re worried or your thinking is all foggy and you’re so damn tired from all the overwhelm? How can you lead the way when everyone is crankier, more reactive than ever and leaning on you more heavily than ever before?

How can you find the strength to persevere through an underperforming launch right now without thinking it means you’re doomed or this year is “a wash” and no one will ever buy anything from you until 2021? Or without thinking the ONLY way to make money this year is to hustle to superhuman levels you don’t have the capacity for right now?

If you’re:

not liking how you’re showing up this year as a leader in all the stressful situations thrown your way

or you’re seeing other people grow and thrive even during this pandemic and you’re wondering what the heck they’re doing to get those results

finding the stress of this year revealed some wobbles in your business and leadership staring you in the face and you aren’t liking what you’re seeing

noticing you don’t have the capacity you thought you did to deal with this year how you’d like. And you can’t quite seem to stay centered.

If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t get ready but instead you STAY READY so you can do what’s best for you and your community to make sure this is the best year yet for your business…

If you know these times are for true leaders to shine, and you want to be one of those leaders who thrives and grows during this time (and as a result helps others to do the same)…

Then my NEW Capacity in Crisis Workshop is for you.

It’s only $99, it’s 90 minutes and it will help you unlock your personal capacity code to make it past phase 2 of the pandemic. (And through any crisis you may ever encounter beyond this year, because we all know life hands us plenty of crisis.)

And we’re going to cover the 4 pillars you need to be relying heavily on right now so you can get through this time like a badass, THRIVE and keep moving forward WITHOUT letting fears immobilize you or lead you to make ungrounded business decisions.

As for my client, Alice, here’s what happened: we worked on the four pillars of capacity the day she called me. By the end of the call she knew what she needed to do.

She got on the phone with the client who wanted to cancel her payments and had a grounded conversation. The client was so grateful for how powerfully Alice led the conversation, she asked to not only renew her program but paid in full a month early!

She had a direct, firm but loving conversation with the client who was triangulating her group. The client apologized and completely changed her tune.

She saw past her fear of the in person events canceled and gained more capacity to create a plan to recoup the income she lost. She hosted the event virtually a few weekends ago and completely surpassed expected enrollment numbers. Yes, even in the middle of a pandemic.

Now she’s got the capacity to deal with her new world and as a result, is leading her business, clients, team and family calmly without getting thrown off by the chaos.

If the way you’re showing up or not showing up is nagging at you and you want help, join us at the workshop.

**We close enrollment next week.**
And yes, there will be a recording. Though I highly recommend you be there live, you can still get the recording if you can’t be there.
